NAMING / INDEPENDENT COVERAGE

AI Domains Newsletter

Brand the useful product behind the technology.

AI-related naming should make a product easier to understand, not borrow credibility from a keyword. Explore naming briefs, audience interpretation, product scope, and acquisition discipline. We do not publish speculative inventory lists or imply that an AI label creates demand or guarantees future value. The strongest brief starts with what the customer needs to accomplish.

Start with the customer’s task

Describe the desired outcome without using AI terminology. Then decide whether a category cue, a descriptive phrase, or a distinctive brand best serves the product. The name does not need to explain the entire technology stack to introduce a useful service. Consider both the person selecting the product and the person who will operate it.

Test the claim embedded in the name

Combine each candidate with a plain-language product description. Watch for implied accuracy, autonomy, or breadth the product does not support. A name needing immediate correction may create the wrong expectation even when it sounds memorable. Test pronunciation and spelling with people who do not already know the project’s internal terminology.

Choose a manageable acquisition

Compare realistic alternatives, investigate potential naming conflicts, and obtain exact acquisition and renewal terms. Budget for implementation and do not rely on an assumed later resale. A product brief should remain the reason for the purchase, not a trend forecast. Consider plausible product changes and note which directions the chosen identity would make harder.
